India, the second largest producer of fruits and vegetables in the world, is not eating enough of them. An affinity for fast food, long work hours and rising prices of fruit and vegetable are the leading reasons for a drop in their consumption. The government actively endorses "Five-a-day" policy, a recommendation to eat five servings of 80 grams a day, 400 grams of fruit and vegetables in all.
