I developed a strong natural connection with Uzbekistan while growing up in Kazakhstan, where hundreds of thousands of Uzbeks live. Their legendary politeness and cheerful spirit are enthralling. When I traveled inside Uzbekistan, many genuine smiles, chatty grandmothers, meal offerings and the curiosity of so many welcomed me everywhere I went. The rich culture and history of Uzbekistan span thousands of years. This wealth is visible throughout the country, in its architecture, traditions, cuisine and it is kept alive in all the people I met along the way.
