These peculiar shaped pillars have been generated by the extreme soil and water erosion over thousands of years in Dasht-e Loot Desert (Lut desert), South of Iran. It was inscribed to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2016 and is one of the driest and hottest places on Earth.
